Are dental apps effective? — 5 points

Researchers studied the app, Brush DJ, to determine if it was successful in promoting oral healthcare, according to iDigital Times.

Here are five points on Brush DJ.

1. The app plays music for two minutes to help a user know how long to brush his/her teeth. The app reminds users when to spit and when not to rinse, and gives the users a reminder to brush twice a day.

2. Findings showed 70 percent of respondents felt they had cleaner teeth because of the app.

3. Eighty-eight percent of respondents claimed they felt encouraged to brush their teeth longer.

4. Additionally, 90 percent of respondents stated they would recommend the app.

5. The app has positive effects across four themes — motivation, education, compliance and perceived benefits.
