ADA pens letter to CMS asking for Medicaid changes to increase dentist participation

The American Dental Association recently wrote a letter to CMS asking for changes that would encourage more dentists to participate in the program, according to a July 22 news release.

The letter was written July 16 and addressed to Daniel Tsai, who was appointed deputy administrator and director of the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services June 28. In it, ADA President Daniel Klemmedson, DDS, MD, and Executive Director Kathleen O'Loughlin, DMD, said making changes to the credentialing and auditing processes within 15 days would increase participation.

The letter also outlined several areas the ADA looks to work with CMS to address, including guidance on best practices and standardized training for dental audits, streamlining dentist credentialing, and establishing a billing code system.
