Delta Dental Institute funds 3 schools to research oral health disparities

The Delta Dental Institute is funding oral health research at three dental schools to examine solutions that will improve oral healthcare and overall well-being in the U.S.

The Delta Dental Institute partners with organizations nationwide to support oral health research, advocacy and community outreach.

Sung Choi, PhD, from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine in Boston, will evaluate the feasibility of policies to reduce oral healthcare disparities. Tamanna Tiwari, from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in Aurora, will review barriers to successful dental-medical collaborations. Leonardo Marchini, DDS, PhD, from the University of Iowa in Iowa City, will assess the use of mobile apps to improve oral health literacy for caregivers of older adults.

The amount of money given to each school was not disclosed.
