Pennsylvania legislation introduces bill to restore medical assistance program

A bill to reinstate dental benefits under Pennsylvania's medical assistance program was introduced in the state House of Representatives.

If passed, the program would cover more advanced dental procedures, including root canals, periodontal disease work and emergency exams for low-income residents, according to a June 23 news release from the Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus.

Funding for the program was reduced in 2011 and currently only covers routine fillings and cleanings.

The bill was introduced by Rep. Sara Innamorato and co-sponsored by Rep. Emily Kinkead and Rep. Valerie Gaydos, the release said.
