7 dental payer updates

Here are seven payer stories Becker’s has reported on since Sept. 20:

1. Several dental organizations have worked to gather support for a November ballot initiative in Massachusetts that could establish a medical loss ratio for dental insurers.

2. The American Dental Association and its Dental Quality Alliance commended CMS for its proposed rule for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance core set reporting.

3. Ameritas and Spirit Dental were ranked the highest by Forbes as the best dental insurance plans without waiting periods.

4. DentaQuest, a dental benefits provider, and oral health advocacy group TeamSmile have launched a project to connect underserved children with long-term dental care resources and dental teams.

5. As of Oct. 1, all 50 states and Washington, D.C., offer dental coverage for Medicaid enrollees who are pregnant and postpartum through at least 60 days after pregnancy.

6. DentaQuest partnered with Partners Health Plan, a nonprofit managed care organization, to increase access to oral healthcare and improve outcomes for those with disabilities.

7. California dentists and the California Dental Association are concerned with contract changes announced by Delta Dental of California.
