The American Dental Association is urging the Department of Justice to enforce regulation that improves competition among insurers.
In its May 21 letter, the ADA highlighted factors contributing to limited competition between dental insurance companies and recommended actions that promote competition and protect consumers. The organization also described how limited competition harms dental professionals and patients.
The ADA urged the Justice Department to enforce the Competitive Health Insurance Reform Act to address antitrust practices among insurers. It also recommended several actions for the Justice Department to take, including conducting a dental insurance market study, issuing antitrust guidance, reviewing mergers and supporting state reform efforts.
