Dental advocates have helped pass 400 dental insurance reform laws across the country over the last few years, according to the American Dental Association.
Four notes:
1. The milestone builds on the more than 100 dental insurance reform bills introduced across 37 states during the 2026 legislative session alone.
2. Eighteen states have enacted 33 laws so far this year, with more reforms expected this fall, the ADA said Sept. 22.
3. Laws addressing issues such as assignment of benefits, virtual credit cards and provider network leasing have now passed in more than half of all states over the past few years.
4. ADA President Richard Rosato, DMD, said the 400-law milestone reflects the collective work of dentists, patients and advocates pushing for greater transparency, fairness and accountability in dental insurance.
