The Illinois Legislature recently passed a bill that prohibits certain reimbursement practices from dental insurance companies.
HB 4464 bans insurers, dental service plan corporations and contracted vendors from requiring providers to only accept payments by credit card or electronic funds transfer. It also forbids these companies from imposing fees in order for providers to obtain reimbursements.
The bill was sent to Gov. J.B. Pritzker June 12. If signed, the bill will go into effect Jan. 1.
