Legislation to expand dental insurance options in 32 states introduced

Sen. Maggie Hassan and Sen. Roger Marshall introduced legislation that would provide more affordable dental care options in states that do not have a state-run health insurance marketplace.

Currently, the federal health insurance marketplace does not offer dental plans without also purchasing health insurance, according to a Sept. 12 news release from Ms. Hassan’s office.

The proposed bill would allow consumers in states without a state-run marketplace to purchase standalone dental plans.

If passed, the bipartisan bill would help expand access to care and improve the oral and overall health of Americans, the release said.
