Maine Gov. Janet Mills signed legislation April 15 that increases the reimbursement rate for general anesthesia given during dental procedures.

The law increases the reimbursement rate from $151 to $203 for every 15 minutes a patient is under general anesthesia.

A previous version of the bill would have only updated the reimbursement rates for dental services requiring deep sedation or general anesthesia when those services are provided to a pediatric patient at an ASC.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
