Practices with more dentists see higher Medicaid participation: Study

Dental practices with more dentists are more likely to have a higher Medicaid participation, according to a recent study by the American Dental Association’s Health Policy Institute.

Dentists at practices with at least 11 dentists had about 162 more unique Medicaid patients in a given year compared to solo dentists or dentists at practices with one other dentist, according to the study.

Here are the expected number of Medicaid patients per dentist according to practice size: 

11 or more dentists: 325

3-10 dentists: 258

1-2 dentists: 163
