Four things to know:
1. The Strengthening Medicaid Incentives for Licensees Enrolled in Dental Act was introduced March 7.
2. The bill would simplify the credentialing process for dentists by encouraging states to use an integrated system to minimize paperwork and complete the credentialing process within 90 days.
3. The bill would also ensure fair Medicaid audits by requiring that audits be performed by a dentist from the same specialty and be based on clinical practice guidelines from dental organizations.
4. Several dental organizations sent a letter to Dr. Simpson April 11 supporting the legislation, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the Association of Dental Support Organizations.
