U.S. Rep Jennifer McClellan recently visited a nonprofit dental clinic in Virginia to discuss the impact of Medicaid cuts on patient care, WCYB reported Aug. 28.

Four notes:

1. President Donald Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act July 4. The bill is expected to lead to a decrease in Medicaid spending by nearly $1 trillion.

2. Rep. McClellan visited Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center in Abingdon, Va., to discuss proposed future cuts.

3. Ms. McClellan said she is co-sponsoring legislation to reverse the Medicaid cuts, and that she would be taking stories from her visit back to legislators to show the impact of the cuts.

4. More than 80% of AHCDC’s patients rely on Medicaid, and the clinic currently has a waitlist of about 2,800 people.
