23% of dental office managers plan to retire within 6 years: Report

About 22.9% of dental office managers plan to retire within six years, according to Dentalpost’s 2025 Dental Salary Survey Report.

Dentalpost surveyed 271 dental practice managers to create this year’s report. The survey was conducted from October to November 2024. 

Here are four notes on job turnover for dental office managers from the report: 

1. About 8% of practice managers reported changing jobs within the past year, looking primarily for career advancement and higher pay.

2. Approximately 37.5% of practice managers said they are planning or actively pursuing a job change within the next few years. The primary motivations behind this change include higher income, better benefits and a better work environment. 

3. Forty one percent of managers reported being with their current employer for six or fewer years.

4. About 20% of managers reported being with their current employer for 20 years or more.
