Dental workforce sees nearly 20% increase in female dentists over 20 years

The dental workforce is making strides in adding women to the industry, seeing a nearly 20 percent increase in women over 20 years.

This data, published in January 2022, comes from a master file created by the American Dental Association based on information about the dentist population gathered from 2001-21.

In 2001, women made up 16 percent of the dental workforce. The number of female dentists jumped to 35.9 percent in 2021.
