Oral and maxillofacial pathologists in the US: A slow growth

The number of oral and maxillofacial pathologists in the U.S. has only increased by 1.6 percent from 2001 to 2021, according to data from the American Dental Association.

The profession reached its height with 484 providers in 2005, slightly decreasing and increasing over the years before hitting its current total of 423.

The ADA collected data on the total number of dentists by specialty and the ratio per capita in a January report.
