Texas dentist launches dental assistant school to meet demand

A Texas dentist has begun offering dental assisting classes at his practice to help meet the high demand for dental assistants in the area.

Mahesh Dholariya, DDS, established the Georgetown Dental Assistant School at his practice, Westinghouse Dental, in Georgetown, Texas, according to a May 8 news release.

Dr. Dholariya said he recognized the need for dental assistants in the Austin area. He said his school offers a local, more cost-effective option for students in the suburbs who would otherwise have to travel to Austin for training.

The program includes a 13-week course and at least 40 hours of externship experience. The school also offers flexible financing for students who cannot pay tuition upfront. The school has also invested in innovative technology for general, restorative and cosmetic dental services.
