4 notes on dental assistant job turnover in 2024

Fifty-six percent of dental assistants are considering applying for new jobs before 2025, according to Dentalpost’s 2024 Dental Salary Survey.

Dentalpost surveyed 547 registered dental assistants from July to October 2023 for this year’s report. 

Here are four facts on dental assistant turnover:

1. Fifty-eight percent of dental assistants reported that they had been with their current employer for up to four years.

2. About 24% of dental assistants changed jobs within the last 12 months. 

3. Some of the top reasons for changing jobs in 2023 were better work environments, higher pay and more appreciation.

4. Dental assistants said they primarily use online job boards, social media and staffing agencies to search for new jobs.
