Dental Loan Repayment Assistance Act reintroduced to Congress: 3 notes

U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Roger Wicker reintroduced the Dental Loan Repayment Assistance Act to Congress June 22.

Three notes:

  1. The Dental Loan Repayment Assistance Act  would eliminate certain loan assistance benefits from counting as taxable income, according to a June 22 news release.
  2. The bill aims to increase the number of dental and dental hygiene faculty in the workforce by helping training programs attract and retain faculty through loan forgiveness.
  3. The bill is supported by several dental organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Student Dental Association and the Hispanic Dental Association.
