Thirty-four percent of dental hygienists plan to retire within six years, according to Dentalpost's 2024 Dental Salary Survey.
Dentalpost surveyed 1,802 registered dental hygienists from July to October 2023 for this year's report.
Here is when surveyed dental hygienists said they plan to retire:
Less than three years: 15.06%
Three to six years: 19.51%
Seven to 10 years: 18.63%
Eleven to 15 years: 15.31%
Sixteen to 20 years: 13.43%
More than 20 years: 18.06%
