4 states alleviating dental staffing concerns through legislation

Here are four states that have created and passed legislation to combat staffing issues and shortages in the dental industry that Becker’s has reported on since Jan. 29:

1. The Florida Legislature is considering two bills that would authorize dental therapists in the state.

2. South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signed a bill that expands the ability to practice as a dental hygienist under the supervision of a dentist.

3. Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers signed a four-bill package that will allow dental therapists to provide care in the state, among other dental staffing measures.

4. The Georgia General Assembly is weighing a bill that would provide a tax break to dentists and physicians who move to rural areas of the state.
