The American Dental Association is supporting legislation that would establish and expand community-based training opportunities for healthcare professionals.
S. 4370, the Primary Care Team Education Centers Act, would establish community-based education centers to train the next generation of health professionals on ambulatory patient care.
In a June 23 letter to Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., the ADA said workforce shortages remain one of its top policy priorities, and called the bill pivotal in directing dental professionals to underserved regions. The organization also noted that nine out of 10 dentists report difficulty recruiting dental hygienists and assistants.
