In 2024, the state legislature allocated $178 million to establish a dental school at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus in Savannah.
Dentists who receive a teaching license through the bill will not be allowed to practice dentistry outside the scope of the dental school.
The bill was introduced by state Rep. Lee Hawkins.
