Dr. Nadershahi was appointed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom to join the council, which was created through 2021 legislation to coordinate workforce education to meet the state’s healthcare needs.

The council has 17 members representing various healthcare professions. It is tasked with advocating for more funding to expand health professions education and training in California. It’s also responsible for creating a funding strategy and providing support for the development of graduate medical education and health professions training in the state.

The state dental agency said the council will prioritize diversity and improving care for patients who are underserved and recipients of the state’s Medicaid program.

At the Becker's 5th Annual Future of Dentistry Roundtable, taking place September 14-15 in Chicago, dental leaders and executives will gain insights into emerging technologies, practice growth strategies and the evolving landscape of dental care delivery, with a focus on innovation, patient experience and operational excellence.
