The Iowa House of Representatives has passed a bill that permits dental assistants in the state to work without registering, according to an April 23 report from ABC 9

In order to address the shortage of dental assistants in the state, the bill creates a different tier of dental assistants.

Kelsey Fisk, president of the Iowa Dental Assistant Association, hopes that the new unregistered dental assistants will only be used as a last option.

The bill moves to the state Senate for consideration.
