Iowa launches program to expand dental workforce

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced a new grant program for healthcare employers to create new pipelines.

The Iowa Healthcare Credentialing Grant will provide $3 million in funding for employers to create or expand programs in high-demand occupations, including dental hygienists and dental assistants, according to a Jan. 15 news release Iowa Workforce Development.

Eligible programs must be work-based learning programs with an earn and learn component. 

The grant aims to increase the number of healthcare workers in both rural and urban communities across Iowa, the release said.
