Owner dentists vs. non-owners: Who lacked more appointments due to staff shortages?

More than 40 percent of non-owner dentists said their practices lacked appointments in January because of staff vacancies, compared to 32.3 percent of owners dentists, according to a recent poll by the American Dental Association Health Policy Institute.

The ADA surveyed 1,883 dentists for its January “Economic Outlook and Emerging Issues in Dentistry” poll. 

Percentage of practices who were unable to fill their appointment schedules 100 percent because of staff vacancies by ownership status:

Owners: 32.3 percent

Non-owners: 40.5 percent
