The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has launched the state’s first dental assistant registered apprenticeship program.
The 15-month program includes 592 hours of paid related instruction and 2,008 hours of on-the-job training. The minimum pay during instruction is $20–$22 per hour, according to a July 28 news release.
The program’s first cohort includes two dental assistant apprentices, who have signed contracts with Martin Dental in Altoona, Wis., and will take courses at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire, Wis.
