Sunstar Americas issued a voluntary recall Oct. 28 for its paroex chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse, which treats gingivitis, because it may contain the bacteria Burkholderia lata. On Nov. 9, Lohxa recalled its chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse for the same reason.
Fresenius Kabi issued a voluntary national recall July 22 for two lots of its dexmedetomidine hydrochloride injection, which is used as a sedative, because a trace amount of the local anesthetic lidocaine was present in them. On Nov. 19, the drugmaker recalled another lot of the injection for the same reason.
