SmileGuard resin, a new 3D printing material developed by Desktop Metal, received FDA clearance.
The product is able to withstand high amounts of teeth grinding, clenching and abrasions, according to an Oct. 6 news release from Desktop Metal.
The material used in SmileGuard resin is biocompatible and can be used to make durable and flexible bite splints and night guards.
Products can be manufactured in one hour and delivered to patients the same day by utilizing a digital 3D printing workflow, the release said.
