Dentists and DSOs are attempting to adapt to the changing costs of dental supplies under new tariffs, Atlanta News First reported May 12.

Four notes:

1. Steven Wingfield, DMD, the CEO of Detroit-based Wave Dental Professionals, told Atlanta News First that most of the technology used in the U.S. comes from Europe and Asia.

2. Dr. Wingfield said he received a warning from suppliers in March that tariffs would drive up the costs of their products, leading his DSO to have to take on the extra financial burden.

3. Dr. Wingfield said that despite increasing the costs of certain services, it still does not cover the tariffs.

4. Some dental professionals could see some relief as President Donald Trump reduced tariffs on goods imported from China May 12.
