8 recent teledentistry company updates

From quarterly financial reports to industry collaborations, here are eight recent updates from teledentistry companies:

  1. Newport Beach, Calif.-based teledentistry company Denteractive is partnering with customer engagement company Swell to launch the Unlimited+Growth service aimed at helping practices attract and retain patients.
  2. New York City-based teledentistry company Candid Care is suing SmileDirectClub to stop the Nashville, Tenn.-based company from making an infringement claim over one of its patents.
  3. Dental artificial intelligence company Pearl obtained its fourth patent this year for its new AI system that uses computer algorithms to detect dental insurance fraud, waste and abuse.
  4. SmileDirectClub reported $174 million in revenue and a net loss of $55 million during its second quarter.
  5. Medical device company Align Technology entered an accelerated stock repurchase agreement with Goldman Sachs & Co. to repurchase $75 million of Align's common stock.
  6. In July, Dental software company Planet DDS appointed Shawn Edwards as its new CFO.
  7. Align Technology released its second quarter financial results July 28, showing $1 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time.
  8. Teledentistry software company Virtual Dental Care will integrate Holland Healthcare's TelScope dental imaging system into its Teledentix software as part of a collaboration between the two companies.
