The Obama administration has acknowledged that its 7.1 million insurance exchange enrollment figure accidentally factored in 400,000 dental plan enrollees, according to a report by The Washington Times.

With the dental enrollees factored in, enrollment surpassed the Congressional Budget Office estimate of 7 million people.

“This mistake was unacceptable. I will be communicating that clearly throughout the department. While we understand some will be skeptical, our clarity that that is a mistake and the fact that we have quickly corrected the numbers should give people confidence. It is important to continue to focus on the fact that millions of Americans are getting affordable healthcare,” said HHS Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, according to the report.
