Dallas dentist David Alameel self-funds U.S. Senate campaign

Dallas dentist David Alameel, DDS, has spent more than $9.5 million thus far to fund his bid for a U.S. Senate seat, according to a dallasnews report.

Dr. Alameel is one of eight Senate candidates to spend more than $1 million of their own money on campaigning. Of these candidates, half lost in the primary. Between 2002 and 2012, only one of the top 10 self-funded U.S. Senate candidates won the race.
He is a Democratic candidate in a primarily Republican state.
