Dr. Demi Kouzounas tapped to chair Maine Republican Party: 4 takeaways

The Maine Republican Party has a new chairman in Demi Kouzounas, DDS, the Portland Press Herald reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Dr. Kouzounas was the party’s immediate past vice chairman.. The Maine Republicans selected her to lead the party Jan. 28, 2017.

2. Dr. Kouzounas practices at two locations in the state and manages a staff of 30 employees.

3. In addition to her practice, she started a dental clinic for low-income children called Bright Smiles in Portland, Maine. She additionally co-founded Dentists Who Care for ME, which provides free dental care for those in need.

4. Dr. Kouzounas is replacing Rick Bennett who declined to run for a two year term in January. Mr. Bennett is debating running for governor in 2018.
