Here are five things to know:
1. Step pliers, or detailing pliers or bayonet bending pliers, are best used extraorally on wire up to .022″ x .25″.
2. The pliers’ double-sided offset beaks create a right-hand or left-hand step-up or step-down in wire at ½ mm, ¾ mm or 1 mm intervals.
3. The z-bends created by the pliers are designed to help a clinician extrude or intrude a specific tooth or teeth.
4. The bend can also change a tooth’s inclination and/or rotation, according to the release.
5. The Steep Pliers use a surgical grade stainless steel.
