1. Using National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data including participants who had periodontal and HPV data, researchers aimed to determine if an association of the presence of HPV in oral rinse specimens and periodontal disease exists.
2. According to the study, “the adjusted odds ratio for the presence of HPV in oral rinse specimens with relation to periodontal disease was 1.04.”
3. However, researchers failed to reject the hypothesis that there is no association of HPV in oral rinse specimens and periodontitis.
