1. The organization awards the award to an individual who exhibits all three characteristics of OF’s mission: research, education and charitable causes.
2. Dr. Eckert is a past Academy of Osseointegration president. He was the second editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, and still holds this position.
3. Dr. Eckert joined AO in 1991. He is a professor emeritus at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic and an adjunct professor at Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.
4. Dr. Eckert is the director and research director at Minneapolis-based ClearChoice Dental Implant Center.
