The bill and compact expand employment opportunities for the dental industry in Kansas by improving license portability for dentists and dental hygienists, according to an April 12 news release from the governor’s office.
The interstate compact allows dentists and dental hygienists to have one license to practice in every state that is part of the compact instead of needing licenses for each individual state.
Kansas is the sixth state to enter the compact, joining Iowa, Washington, Tennessee, Wisconsin and Virginia. The compact becomes active once seven states join.
More than 10 other states have introduced legislation to join the compact.
