The upgraded facility, which opened Aug. 12, features dental simulation equipment to enhance preclinical training in operative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, digital dentistry and implant dentistry, according to a news release from the school.
The clinic includes 82 dental patient simulator units, manikins, simulated caries teeth and electric motor handpieces. A 40-seat simulation clinic was added for digital dentistry training, while another 10-seat space was added with augmented reality dental simulators.
The new clinic also makes Case Western Reserve dental students first in the U.S. to learn mixed reality human anatomy using HoloLens visors and HoloAnatomy software.
