Minnesota Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics suffered a hacking incident affecting about 500 individuals.

The practice said it became aware of an issue potentially affecting certain data on its network Feb. 26. After launching an investigation into the matter, the practice determined that a third-party actor copied certain information from its systems without authorization.

The incident is still under investigation, and the practice is currently reviewing the potentially affected files to determine the types of information that may have been acquired during the incident. This information could include names, dates of birth, financial records, health forms, insurance coverage information, employment information and treatment information.

Minnesota Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics submitted the incident to the HHS Department’s Office for Civil Rights Breach Portal May 5.
