Class-action law firm Lynch Carpenter is investigating a recent data breach that took place at a Nevada dental practice.

Las Vegas-based Absolute Dental, which has more than 50 locations across the state, discovered that an unauthorized party accessed some of its systems between Feb. 19 and March 5.

Third-party forensic investigators determined that the access originated from the accidental execution of a malicious version of a legitimate software tool, which occurred through an account associated with Absolute Dental’s third-party managed service provider.

The breach impacted the personal information of more than one million individuals.

Lynch Carpenter said Sept. 3 that it is investigating claims against Absolute Dental related to the breach, adding that those affected may be entitled to compensation.
