The Appalachian Highlands Community Dental Center in Abingdon, Va., broke ground on a project that will add seven operatories to its facility, NBC affiliate WCYB reported Sept. 23.

The expansion will bring the facility up to 21 operatories total, and help the clinic reduce its waitlist of more than 3,000 patients.

Construction is expected to be completed early next year.
