An Iowa dentist who was accused of professional incompetence for the third time has agreed to surrender his license, The Gazette reported Oct. 6.
Masih Safabakhsh, DDS, relinquished his dental license as part of a settlement agreement with the Iowa Dental Board. The board had recently charged him with failing to maintain standards of competency and indiscriminately prescribing or dispensing medication. Dr. Safabakhsh did not admit wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
Dr. Safabakhsh was previously charged with professional incompetence in 2011 and 2012, with both cases resulting in various actions, including fines and license suspensions.
Dr. Safabakhsh can seek license reinstatement after one year.
