Here are two dental practice closures Becker’s covered in September:
1. A Missouri dentist who was charged earlier this year with drug trafficking and unlawful use of a weapon was ordered by a judge to shut down his practice. The Missouri Dental Board asked the court in April to enjoin Dr. Joseph from “engaging in practices which present a substantial probability of serious danger to the health, safety or welfare of any resident.” Newton County Judge Charles Genesio issued a temporary injunction, which can be lifted if Dr. Joseph is acquitted or if the charges are dismissed.
2. Valleygate Dental Surgery Center in Greensboro, N.C., was ordered to close six rooms after an inspection discovered several violations. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services found issues with a renovation project that was completed at the facility over the summer. Twenty-three compliance issues were listed in the report, which led the state to order the closure of three new procedure rooms and three new recovery bays until the findings were addressed. The practice is still able to see patients because the order only applies to the renovated rooms.
