A New York dental office has filed a legal complaint against its landlord for disruptions caused by renovations to its building, Westfair Business Journal reported Nov. 10.
Broadway Dental, a general dentistry practice, leases a ground-floor space in a building owned by Empire Residential in White Plains, N.Y.
In 2022, Empire began renovating the building to convert it from primarily commercial to residential. Broadway Dental Associates is accusing Empire of creating a nuisance and disrupting its business operations during the renovations.
Among the dental practice’s complaints is that it has experienced flooding, bathroom closures, noxious odors, asbestos, restricted access for handicapped visitors and a lack of heat and central air conditioning.
The practice is demanding at least $100,000 for alleged breach of contract and monetary damages.
Becker’s has contacted Empire for comment and will update this article if more information becomes available.
