A federal judge has granted approval of Align Technology’s $31.7M antitrust settlement.

The settlement stems from a 2021 lawsuit accusing Align Technology of participating in anticompetitive conduct that drove up the prices of SmileDirectClub aligners. Align Technology previously submitted two different settlement agreements, both of which were denied by the judge, who took issue with coupon provisions included in both proposals.

Align Technology submitted its revised proposal April 25 that included a higher settlement amount without the coupon component. The judge approved this settlement Nov. 21, according to court documents.
