An Arizona family has settled its wrongful death lawsuit against an oral surgeon after a man died following a dental procedure, ABC 15 Arizona reported Dec. 22.
Derek Swanson, 40, visited Derek Lamb, DMD, in March 2023 for a dental implant. Complications during the procedure led to Mr. Swanson being rushed to the hospital, where he was taken off life support seven days later. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner determined that Mr. Swanson died due to complications of anesthesia administration during the procedure.
Mr. Swanson’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit earlier this year against Dr. Lamb, who denied any negligence.
The two sides agreed to settle all claims for an undisclosed amount.
