The funds will support New Hampshire’s oral health program in brining dental hygienists to schools and other school-based initiatives.
New Hampshire will also use the grant to promote the use of fluoridated drinking water while also bringing awareness to residents’ ability to afford dental care.
Between 2001 and 2014, the department’s data showed the number of third graders with untreated dental decay decreased 14 percent in part because of the programs.
