Dr. Mohamed Masoud appointed director of research at Georgia School of Orthodontics

The Georgia School of Orthodontics has named Mohamed Masoud, BDS, its new director of research. 

Dr. Masoud is currently a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, according to a Feb. 5 news release. His previous experience includes serving as the orthodontic clinical director at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and as the director of orthodontics at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He most recently served as an associate professor of orthodontics at the Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Masoud has practiced orthodontics in a private practice setting for nearly 20 years. Additionally, he is credited with the development of multiple patented technologies and being the first person to publish research on the use of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 as an indicator of skeleton maturity. This research earned him the Harry Sicher Research Award from the American Association of Orthodontists. 

In his new role, Dr. Masoud will provide mentorship to residents at the school’s Lazzara Orthodontic Center for Research.
